Special Ground Operations Coordinator

The way we work across TUI Group Airlines is changing. Our goal in Ground Handling is to be a truly integrated service provider to the TUI Group Airlines based out of UK&I, the Netherlands, Belgium and the Nordic countries. We are embarking on a journey to unite four independent Ground Handling establishments, and create one cohesive pan-European organisation, driving harmonisation and best practice in what we do and capitalising on our collective size to deliver economies of scale, whilst fostering a common culture of excellence in quality and delivery.

This role will be responsible for the delivery of all Ground Operations activities required for any special, ad-hoc, Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance & Insurance (ACMI) flying or other operations outside the normal TUI flying programme. This role will also provide support to all small scale procurement activities across the airport area as and when appropriate.

From time to time, this role may perform Ground Operations Coordinator responsibilities for an airport or cluster of airports, as part of the TUI airport area management team.


As a Special Operations Coordinator you will specify, evaluate, select, contract, manage and implement the delivery of safe, compliant, efficient and customer focused Ground Operational activities (incl. ground handling, fuel and airport arrangements) to support ad hoc/ACMI operations. You will deliver agreed customer experience and service to passengers as defined by the local airline teams. Also you will deliver agreed service to “internal customers” (pilots, cabin crew, local ops, tour operators, etc.).

As part of the role you will ensure that all Ground Operations activities are compliant with authority requirements including border agency and airline / aviation security policies. You will manage relationships with third party suppliers, Airport Authorities and government agencies at airports.

The role will also involve supporting the Area Manager as required in the procurement and delivery of goods and services <£100k (coordinate with Procurement). As well as work as part of the Ground Operations Coordinators team as required by seasonal or short-term resource requirements in the airport area. In addition, you will be expected to participate in operational On-Call and Emergency Response (ERP) rosters as required Finally, you will undertake projects and any other reasonable tasks as and when required by the business.


• Significant experience in aviation ground handling;
• A self-motivated individual who takes the initiative and works collaboratively with a diverse team;
• Ability to work as part of an international team and collaborate with pan-European stakeholders;
• Project management experience in a ground operations environment;
• Ability to stimulate and generate continuous improvement amongst pan-European people, to operate with multiple customers and stakeholders across a range of source markets;
• Experience in procurement and the management of third party suppliers focused on achieving required performance;
• A strong communicator with the proven ability to influence, develop a strong network of contacts throughout the industry and gain support and commitment from line managers and employees across the business and third party suppliers;
• Ability to audit and check for compliance of in scope processes and in the event of any compliance breaches to be able to successfully investigate and resolve;
• Ability to think commercially and operationally whilst ensuring full regulatory compliance is achieved and maintained;
• Knowledge of lease in and lease out procedures, standards and regulations;
• A logical thinker with the ability to generate ideas and alternatives;
• Demonstrable ability to clearly articulate concepts and arguments verbally and in written documentation;
• Cultural sensitivity, with experience of working as part of a pan-European team;
• Ability to audit and check for compliance of in scope processes and in the event of any compliance breaches to be able to successfully investigate and resolve;
• This role requires, besides Dutch, strong business English (written & spoken).
